Robert L. Burch, III

Mr. Burch has been a General Partner or Managing Member of the General Partner of A.W. Jones Company since 1983, and a Portfolio Manager since the inception of the multi-manager strategy in June 1984. He assumed the general partner role from Alfred Winslow Jones, who founded the partnership in 1949. From 1977 to 2004, Mr. Burch was also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jonathan Engineered Solutions, a manufacturing company based in Fullerton, California. Prior to that, he was a Partner at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in New York. He is the President of the Burch Family Foundation. Mr. Burch earned a BA from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

John Marshall

Mr. Marshall joined A.W. Jones’ Advisory Board in 2020. Most recently, he was a Partner at The Archstone Partnerships, a New York based alternative asset management firm, where he was responsible for business development and management of the marketing and investor relations (2002-2017). Prior to joining Archstone, he was a Senior Vice President at Asset Management Services LLC, responsible for alternative investment capital formation (2000-2002). Prior to that, he was a Vice President in the Fixed Income Institutional Sales Groups at JP Morgan (1987-2000) and Salomon Brothers (1982-1987). Mr. Marshall is a Board Member and Treasurer of the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation. He earned an A.B. in Economics from Dartmouth College.

Brian Merrins

Mr. Merrins joined A.W. Jones’ Advisory Board in 2020. He is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Sound Harbor LLC, a family office established in 2017. Prior to Sound Harbor, he served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer at Bluestem Asset Management, LLC, an equity-focused alternative asset management firm (2008-2017). Prior to that, he was a Director in the Corporate Transactions Group for Management Consulting Group (2007-2008) and a Manager in the Risk Advisory Group for KPMG, LLP (1998-2006). Mr. Merrins currently serves as Advisor to Industry Loan Corporation of Virginia. He earned a B.S. in Accounting from Bucknell University (1998) and an MBA in Finance from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (2006).

Jud Reis

Mr. Reis joined A.W. Jones’ Advisory Board in 2020. Previously, he was the President of Sire Management Corp., an equity-focused alternative asset management firm, which he founded in 1991. Prior to that, he was an Executive Vice President and Head of Investment Banking at Kleinwort Benson North America and a Director of U.K. based Kleinwort Benson Ltd. Mr. Reis began his investment career at Morgan Stanley and rose to become a Managing Director in several groups, including Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions (1966-1988). Mr. Reis graduated from Washington & Lee University (1964) cum laude and Harvard Business School (1966) with distinction. He co-authored “The Fine Art of Valuation” in The Mergers & Acquisitions Handbook (published by McGraw-Hill, 1987) and “Determining the Value of Restructuring Alternatives” in Corporate Restructuring, A Guide to Creating the Premium-Valued Company (published by McGraw-Hill, 1990).
